FAQ

Questions, answered.

How NNP works, what's included, and how it fits the way your vessel runs. Can't find it here? Talk to the team.

The platform

What is Nautical Nexus Pioneer, and how does it work?

NNP brings planned maintenance, inventory, procurement, compliance, crew records, and voyage into one connected record. It’s a secure, cloud-based platform with real-time ship-to-shore sync, and it stays usable offline when the signal drops at sea — so work is captured where it happens and the office ashore sees it as it lands.

Who uses the platform?

Everyone in the operation, on screens built for their role — the crew aboard (deck, engine, and every department), the management ashore (DPA, superintendent, crewing), and agents coordinating deliveries in port. Each sees the work that’s theirs, and nothing they don’t need.

What makes NNP different from other maritime software?

Rather than a one-size-fits-all tool, NNP is configured to how your vessel actually runs — your equipment, your survey schedule, your org chart — and every compliance control cites the regulation and the body that inspects it. It’s shaped with the captains, chief engineers, superintendents, DPAs, and crewing managers who run vessels, so it works the way your crew works.

Is it suitable for my vessel?

Yes. NNP is built around how a vessel runs, not one class or size of vessel, and both the capabilities and the pricing scale to your tonnage and operational complexity — so you carry what you need and not what you don’t.

Getting started

How do we begin?

It starts with a scoping call to understand your vessel and how it operates. From there we share a clear proposal — timelines, deliverables, and pricing — and configure the platform to your operation. From first conversation to go-live is typically a matter of weeks.

How long does onboarding take?

It depends on the vessel and how much configuration is involved — typically a few weeks for a straightforward vessel, longer for a complex one or a phased fleet roll-out. Because a new vessel starts from a proven setup rather than a blank page, it isn’t a months-long rebuild.

What information do you need from us?

A picture of your operation — vessel particulars, equipment, crew structure, procedures, and the compliance regime you answer to. We provide a structured questionnaire so we can configure NNP precisely to your reality.

Can our existing data be imported?

Yes — we facilitate migration from your existing maintenance, inventory, and compliance systems, so your history carries over and data integrity is maintained from day one.

Can we implement gradually?

Yes — a phased roll-out starting with the core and expanding over time keeps disruption low and lets the crew adapt progressively.

What if we need customization beyond the standard features?

NNP is built to be configured. Additional features, tailored workflows, and specialized integrations can be developed to fit unique requirements — quoted separately and delivered to an agreed timeline.

Features & functionality

How does the QR code system work?

Every physical asset — spaces, storage locations, equipment, inventory — carries a unique QR code the crew print and attach. A scan brings up the full record: history, documentation, and the job in hand, with no manual lookup and no re-keying.

What maintenance does it cover?

Both planned maintenance — scheduled on running hours or the calendar — and corrective work when something breaks. Jobs carry parts, photos, notes, and the crew who did the work, and each generates the compliance record behind it.

How does inventory management work?

Location-aware stock down to the locker, with minimum levels and reorder points that reflect actual consumption — so a purchase request is raised before a critical spare runs out, not after.

Does it handle regulatory compliance?

Yes — IMO, flag-state, and classification-society requirements are built into the maintenance schedules and record-keeping, and the system produces the audit trails and logs an inspection expects. Every control names the regulation behind it.

Connectivity & integrations

What happens if we lose internet connectivity?

NNP is built for patchy signal at sea. Essential work — scanning, maintenance logging, inventory updates — continues offline, and syncs automatically the moment the connection returns.

Does the platform integrate with our existing systems?

NNP is API-ready. Integrations — fuel management, navigation and condition-monitoring data, financial systems — are available or on the roadmap depending on your setup, and we’ll advise what’s ready today for your operation.

Security & data

How secure is our data?

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is role-based so people reach only what their role allows, and the platform runs on secure, redundant cloud infrastructure with automatic backups — aligned with maritime cybersecurity good practice.

How is our data used and processed?

Your operational data is what powers the platform. NNP processes it in real time — keeping every record current, surfacing what needs attention before it becomes a problem, and turning fleet-wide activity into insight and benchmarking. It’s encrypted, access-controlled, and processed in line with our terms of service and privacy policy.

Is the platform GDPR compliant?

Yes — NNP is GDPR-compliant, and our privacy policy sets out how data is handled, how consent is managed, and how individual rights are protected.

Where is our data stored?

On secure, redundant cloud infrastructure with automatic backups and disaster recovery, and we can accommodate specific geographic requirements where data-sovereignty rules apply.

Compliance & certification

Is the platform approved by classification societies?

NNP is developed to classification-society requirements and industry standards. We prepare the documentation and support you through the approval process with the relevant authorities.

Does it meet ISM Code requirements?

Yes — it’s designed to support ISM compliance: documented procedures, risk assessments, deficiency and incident reporting, and complete maintenance records with proper audit trails.

What about flag-state approval?

We provide the documentation and system detail a flag state needs to approve electronic record-keeping — including tamper-evident audit trails and hard-copy generation.

How do you handle regulatory updates?

We track evolving IMO, flag-state, and classification-society requirements and keep the platform aligned as they change.

Pricing & commercial

How is pricing structured?

By vessel size and operational need, not generic tiers — we assess what your operation actually requires and propose accordingly, so the cost tracks the value.

Are there any hidden fees?

No — core functionality is in the subscription, and any optional add-ons are itemized with pricing up front.

What’s included in the base service?

Onboarding and configuration, equipment and space mapping, user roles, mobile and offline use, compliance logging, and support.

Do you offer a trial?

Yes — a demo tailored to your vessel, and pilot testing with your real scenarios, so you can evaluate NNP before committing.

Support & partnership

What support do you provide?

Hands-on support from people who know both the software and the sea — help when you need it, not a generic script. NNP is meant to be a partner to the vessel, not just a login.

Is training included?

Yes — we train your crew for their roles and support you through go-live, with materials and coaching so the platform is used with confidence from the start.

What happens after go-live?

We stay involved — refining workflows, guiding on new features, and keeping the platform earning its place. The relationship is an ongoing partnership, not a one-off deployment.

Can you help with change management?

Yes — we help crews adopt new processes smoothly, with the plans and materials to make the transition stick without disrupting operations.
